The need for financial literacy for young people prompted the need to create this program which empowers and educates high school students in all aspects of financial literacy through participation in:
• 5 week (8hrs per week) of evening financial literacy classes
• 8 week (10hrs per week) as an intern with a private or government entity (gaining work experience and will be provided a $72 stipend per week)
The knowledge from the financial literacy classes will allow them to become more financially savvy to help them better manage their finances and make more informed choices in regard to money.
The internship experience will provide exposure to a career and mentoring opportunities with professionals that can make a difference in their lives.
• Thanks to a grant from WAMU (now part of JPMorgan Chase), 15 students were able to be part of this great program.
