Small Business Incubator
Small Business Incubator (SBI)
The virtual incubator is a concept that provides quasi office space for on site business counseling for start up businesses.
• CTED (now Dept of Commerce) provided a grant in 1996 for expansion of the SBI to include conference room and computer laboratory for use by clients to promote an increased level of technical assistance.
• The focus is to provide assistance to general contractors, owner/operator long haul truckers and other cooperative groups in helping them obtain the appropriate licenses and certifications to quality for procurement contracts with local, state or federal government, and also connect with prime contractors.
• Costumers are referred as to "desk tenants" whereby they have access to small business management, computer training, staff support such as bookkeeping services, payroll services and other technical assistance.
• Three executive suites are available for market rate that includes use of conference room and computer lab (OFFICE SPACE AVAILABLE FOR RENT!)
•Yakima County provided a grant to develop a feasibility needs assessment to determine the need and interest for 30,000 sq ft Small Business Incubator and Career Center facility. Funding is currently being sought for the construction of the facility from state, federal and private foundations.
SBI supports and works in partnership with the Washington State Association of Small Business Incubators (WASBI) in helping identify and develop strategies for best practices for small business incubators and small business development.
